Meesapulimala: the big one
The second-highest peak in the Western Ghats. You need a KFDC slot and forest guide, an off-road jeep to base camp and a full day on foot through Rhodo Valley and a chain of grassy hills. Pick it if you want a proper summit and are reasonably fit. Full details are in our route guide.
Chokramudi: the quick climb
Chokramudi rises above the Bison Valley road near Devikulam. The walk is shorter and simpler, and the views over Munnar’s valleys are excellent for the effort. It is a good first trek, a good warm-up the day before Meesapulimala, and the spot people head for when Neelakurinji flowers. Entry and route rules are set locally, so check current arrangements before you go.
Kolukkumalai: sunrise without the climb
Kolukkumalai is a tea estate on the Tamil Nadu side, reached by jeep from Suryanelli. Most visitors come for sunrise over the clouds and the old tea factory. There is walking at the top, but the jeep does the climbing. Perfect for families or anyone who wants the view without a long trek.
